NYP Graduation

a few weeks ago, i was verbally invited by mr mark lim to attend NYP Graduation 2009 for Engineer Informatics. Being a good alumni, i knew i had to go. Luckily, with the off-in-lieu of vesak day, going to the event wasn't a waste of my leave. But of coz, it is never a waste even if i have to take leave.

then 2 weeks ago, i receive this in my mail box

After that, i realise that it clashes with the dumpling festival, but mummy is kind enough to let me go instead of insisting that i should help me with the cooking to pray ancestors.

reach the venue just in time before it started, coz was cooking mushroom and duck before i left house. had to cab there, and saw daniel liu (deputy director, formally my course manager) and he say i was just in time. he "ushered" me in, and told the reception that i'm jasmine. Well, it was for the tag and other information brochure that they are providing.

The receptionistS hand over to me, and i got ushered by another student it. Daniel told the student to bring me to a centre seat, and i thought it was just a simple centre seat. HOWEVER, i sat right behind the guest of honour, and the ppl beside me are all the senior directors of the schools!! i'm kinda out of place there when ppl ask what's my name and where i was from. Kinda embarrassed coz i'm not like some big shot. They try making small conversation with me, and i guess they were shock to know i'm alumni. My age is probably just half of theirs.

Anyway, hime did not manage to take any pictures as i felt that i will be even more out of place if i take out my camera and start shooting. so mentally, i decided to take pictures at the end of the event. BUT!! at the end of the event, i was ushered to the food reception and i couldn't get a chance! T_T

The food reception is damn good lor~ apart from the buffet that taste pretty good, they even have someone frying tempura on the spot for us~ greedy hime had 5 tempura in a go, coz it is far better than sakae, though not as great as rakuzen. But afterall, it is free!!

my plate of food

notice that there is a glass beside the place? each plate has something to help you hold the drinks when we are eating~ i saw it from crystal blog but i never expect to see it here~ so interesting and it is really useful. However, my left hand started to ache after some time.

during the food reception, i manage to met up with alot of ppl and chat abt alot of things. adult world is so different. everyone is talking abt recession, industry etc. There are also ppl who will talk abt gging uni, and someone even ask abt my CAPS in uni lor~ kinda amazed.

Most interesting person has to be Mr Leong Sai Cheong. Upon seeing me, he told me that he heard about my gold medal in uni and tried to introduce a EI student who is enrolled in NUS and wanted to me to give him advices in scoring~ LOL.. Does he know my CAPS keeps dropping since 1st semester? But then, i sincerely felt that he is one who really cares abt the student. He is one of the lecturers that never fail to say hi when he see me in town.

So happy that most ppl remember me including Jessica Poon. Elaine forgot my name, but i forgot hers too. Saw Heng but din talk to him. Siva talk to me, but i can remember what we talk. Din saw Wayne, so i'm kinda disappointed. Haven't had a chance to talk to him since upon graduation. Cheong still remembers me, and this is the 1st time he din ask me if i still in contact with his D1s... Heartless D1s, go back and see him la~ i think he miss u all~

At the end of the event, Daniel usher me out and it was Good-Bye time.
I seriously thank Mark Lim for inviting me, but i din even get to see him~ Hopefully will get to see him again soon.
