First donated in 1982 by the Asia Life Assurance Society Ltd, the Asia Life Gold Medal was awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $10,000 to the student with the best overall results in CS Stream in the third year of study of the B.Sc. (Computer & Information Sciences) degree.
Following the re-structuring of the Computer & Information Sciences degree programme, Asia Life Assurance Society Ltd donated an additional $5,000 in 1998. The proceeds from the capital sum of $15,000 are used to award a medal and book prize, valued at $200, the Asia Life Gold Medal and Book Prize.
1. Subject to rule 3 below, the award will be made to the top student in the Bachelor of Computing - Technology Focus, who has not received any other award.
2. The award will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.
3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
4. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 15A on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulations, as amended.
