CS2105 Assignment 1

there is this post that i saw is pretty interesting and my clique pretty agree on in the forum..

Hi Sir,

May I know how come the ongoing assignment is only worth 5%, considering the workload, effort and timeline(a month). Even the "Deliverables" need some time as well.

- Getting the correct software and setting them up
- Web/UI design
- Setting up JDBC connection
- Understand Servlets and data processing between web forms, Servlets and database.
- Lines of codes and codes..
- Validation, addressing of bugs
- Deliverables!

I seriously can't see the above mentioned are being graded as a 5% assignment.

JSP is an unfamilar technology to most I believe (taking the need of a workshop into consideration). Hence, is it because since most of us are beginners, there will be lesser emphasis on the overall weightage for the assignments. What I mean is.. a complete application versus a partial application, is only a slight few percent difference? This is only my personal opinion though.

Possible to enlighten me?

and there was suppose to be a session to teach us on JSP, but as the deadline get nearer and nearer, we still haven get a chance to attend the lesson. haiz..

Waters

Last night watch a midnight movie "Waters". You won't be able to find from the listing of movie coz in Sg, they call is "Gigolo Wannabe" (yucky name). They seem to not know how to translate arh.. and the subtitle sux too..

Anyway it is a sneak preview. Extremely funny movie that make me laugh till i fall.. heehee...

it also allow me to learn the difference between "No 1" and "Top" (hahaha)

my giddy spell finally stop when i woke up this morning, but night wasn't a good night either. cramps through out the night.

Some updates on my status of modules

Lecture and Reading Related

MA1505: following victor tan schedule; on time;

CS2103: on time; always manage to do pre-reading by one week so as to write notes into lecture notes before lecture starts the lecture;.

CS2105: EXTREMELY NOT-ON-TIME; reading still stuck at chapter 1, an estimation of 200 pages more to be read.

CS3234: NOT-ON-TIME; need to re-watch webcast from Lecture 2 onwards. Do not understand some certain topics. Textbook will only be out during Mid-term break.

SSS1207: Pretty on time; finish week 1 to week 6 reading. Through not thoroughly for week 5 and 6. Requires preparation for CA1 in week 6

Project Related:

CS2103: complete Submission 1 and progressing to Submission 2 on tuesday

CS2105: haven start yet. coz database wan JUST given. Suppose to attend a course before we do, till now course is not out. most likely going to start tml. deadline: 5 October(Less than 4 weeks)

Tutorial Related:

MA1505: always on time, but tut 3 qns 7 not completed

CS2103: always on time, but this week's not done

CS2105: always on time, without really understand it

CS3234: not always on time, can do tutorial, but dun understand lecture

a bad day from 12midnight till 10am

now is 10:21am, i suppose to have networking lesson but i din go. This is becoz of several reasons. 1st, let me say abt the bad thingy

12midnight: headache, rushing through my maths notes, cannot understand at all the application of taylor series

1am: maths tutorial time, more headache, abit giddy, stuck @ qns 5a for quite some time

2am: still maths tutorial, feel like vomiting, cannot figure out how to do qns 6. everyone left msn to sleep.. i feel tired. eyes pain. shufen have send me the file for project, needs editing on domain diagram. too tired.

2:30am: battery fully charge, hiberate my com to take out the battery. halfway through hiberation, my com got illegal shutdon due to the loose wire. *panic* turn-on com. no big problem. but com starts to be abit slack. mozilla firefox bookmarks were all lost!! *extreme panic*. Then i start to add bookmarks in, but failed to do so.. something is wrong and i dunno wat.

7:30am: woke up, make a final decision on not going networking lecture. plan to stay at home finish up the domain modelling and do some readings. went back for another short nap

9am: start my pc. sms shufen abt the mozilla and not going networking, she replied and i called her. she suggest i uninstall and install it again. edit domain diagram while waiting for download. Uninstall and install => Problems still there.

10am: decide to defrag my com. did all that i can do. coz it was acting slightly better than my obasan only.. why my com go haywire? sian..

10:30am: current time, finish defraging and reinstall mozilla firefox. no help at all. still cannot add bookmarks... planning to uninstall it and use IE forever.

10:34am: current time, suppose to be doing my CS3234 tutorial since i haven complete it but then cannot do means cannot do.. i no longer have energy, stamina and the ability. no other feelings now except tired and sad... going into slight depression.

10:36am: current time, using my HP com to type all these things. kinda sad to see a less than one month old baby(IBM com) working just slightly better than a 4 years old(HP com).. i think i really going mad.. what time shall i leave home for sch?

10:37am: last week msn got problem. this week mozilla firefox have problem.. what abt next week?

10:39am: my giddness is acting up. but later got tutorial, need to go and need to finish up the tutorial. i feel like crying now.. life suddenly abit sux.. can't i just have a free day to rest properly? i think i really work very hard liao...

10:40am: talking to my sis via msn.. i think my stress level is increasing with a concave up curve.. i cannot take it liao..

10:41am: needs to pack bag to sch.. brb

11:03am: haven bathe and haven pack bag, was moving bookmarks, or i should now call favourites now.. moving frm one IE to another.. Now uninstalling mozilla...

11:06am: finish packing bag, i simply dump 4 modules related stuff into my bag coz i simply cannot figure out which one i wanna do later.. my bag is freaking heavy for the day...

11:07am: i think i better go bathe to get ready to go sch.. no mood for my make-up today.. so maybe all shall see ghost later... taxi fare is really ex sia.. i dun understand why i am in computing and i sux so much in hardware and networking and etc etc. i just dun feel that i am a computing student..

11:21am: finish showering.. itwas since so long then i shower so fast.. kept vomiting in the toilet, but there was nothing in my stomach.. all that i vomit was acid from stomach.. a sign of stress level increase...

11:22am: dun dare to go sch, din know that sch is something so scary to me.. i have friends waiting for me in sch and i am still like that.. how am i going to survive during my last 2 sems when no one is ard liao? (T_T)

11:23am: my tear keep flowing and i dunno why.. while i think is my computer problem that is making me like that, i cannot push all the blame to it either.. if u know me well.. u will know that my computer problems will lead me to a horrible stage.. i feel like a otaku...

11:24am: my skin look horrible.... and my hair is looking like some grass..

11:29am: leaving home now.. pls give me a good day..

this happen yesterday, the 5 silly us was there at near university hall trying to rescue a poor snail, which we do not know the species..

anyway, my blog might not be update well these few days coz pretty busy with sch work and rushing of vcds.. heehee..

Saturday

as usual went out with kkg (this is what we do every sat) haha.. shall not mention where we hang out to avoid unneccessary and unwanted ppl.. LOL.. anyway, today was like almost wanting to watch frostbite, but the synopsis was such a turned off.. so we gave up the idea.

Friday

Nothing much special apart from we went to get our FREE underwater-world ticket that "comes-along" with our SSS1207 module. YEAH!!

what a great feeling to have free tickets.. LOL.. i haven been there for quite some time..

Moreover, shufen, patrick, kim yoong and daphne also have the ticket, so it will be a happy-5 kind of journey..

Then on the way back to SOC from S2, this is what we saw (photos not well taken)

in case you wannna know, these fishes belong to life science department. It is kinda cool i feel.. anyway there are some pictures not available here, which are pictures of the more rare fishes..

Then anyway, we haven decide when to go underwater-world, but next weekend we will go Labrador Park(intertidal). This is due to our SS. Guess we really need to see more of such things. Have to go next weekend coz there are only 3 days in september that is low tide, from 8 sept to 10 sept. So we do not wanna wait till oct.

We have also somehow tentitatively decided that we shall go for the following "excursion" in the following order (if time allows)

1. Labrabor park
2. Raffles museum of BioDiversity Research (which is in FOS)
3. Tanah Merah
4. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
5. Kent Ridge Secondary Forest
6. Sungei Buloh Nature Park

(and underwater-world in between)

Thursday:

Nothing much, just upload some photos that we took after lecture coz too bored.
