Cooling Day....
Hi all, today is Cooling Day.
No more rally, no more emotion break-down (for some ppl), no more scream & yell. Time to take a break and think of the one but BIG vote on your hand. Today, we shan't talk about different parties and the policy. Instead we need to talk about tomorrow.
What You Need to Know about Voting
Have you seen this booklet? I happen to see this in Thursday's TODAY Newspaper. I don't know where else we can get it, but it is really interesting.
Some summarise point for your information.
1. Get your polling card from your letter box. If you have not received your poll card by now, please visit your nearest Community Centre/Club to get a replacement poll card. Or call the Election Department Hotline at 1800-818-0088.
2. Polling Hours are from 8:00am - 8:00pm
3. Go to the polling station stated on your poll card.
4. Bring your poll card + NRIC/Passport
5. Avoid bringing bags to the Polling Station. Your bags will be subjected to checks
6. No smoking
7. Do not use your handphone in the Polling Station

1. Identify yourself at the Polling Station
2. Upon receiving your ballot paper, proceed to the polling booth to mark your ballot paper
3. Mark you choice CLEARLY with an "X" in the box-space on the right hand side, opposite the name & symbol of the candidate of group of candidate of your choice.

Apathetic Gen-Y & Election.
One day before cooling day. I had to say this out. I'm very shocked by the Gen-Y reaction for GE2011.
In general, i group them to 4 groups of people.
1. PAP Supporters
2. Opposition Supporters
3. Neither side, watching youtube rally to support their final votes
4. Apathetic Gen-Y
Why Apathetic Gen-Y makes me sad.
While the recent GE fire is going on, it is unavoidable when people tend to talk to you about GE, Rally etc. At the same time, there are these people who don't care. I happen to talk to a friend briefly on this, and just when i got started, he slapped a comment right on my face. "I don't care, I'm not a candidate." In fact, i wish to return the slap with "You are a voter", but i decided to give up. Either becoz i wasn't confident of our friendship, or i feel that he is just Apathetic Gen-Y.
Apathetic Gen-Y, the thought of them make me sad. I haven seen any apathetic Gen-X yet. Why only Gen-Y?
Please, be more responsible to the vote on your hand.

A new piece of reading from online make me think through some points.
(The comments below are not against any party in particular. i'm purely talking base on points. No party-attack. And purely IMHO)
1. Lower HDB price
I'm a selfish house owner. Before i buy a house, i wish the price wasn't that high. After i buy the house, i pray the price goes higher. You may think i'm greedy. But if the price of my flat goes down now, i'm gg to cry. The amount of money that i have already borrowed from HDB will not go down. So i bought a house at 500k, borrow a loan of 400k, and now the house value is 300k? If such situation happen, what am i suppose to do? Don't tell me that you are talking about new launches from HDB. You should understand, housing price affect the market as a whole.
2. Hawker, keep your price low.
I haven been to market for a while, but i decided to pop by recently for a check on the price of raw materials. Since after my dad's retirement, i never really keep an observation on raw food prices. Indeed, the jerking high price freaks me out. I wonder how the hawkers going to survive without increasing the price for the bowl of wanton mee, when the pork used to make char siew is getting so expensive. Are the government lowering the rental fees? And btw, who take cares of rental fees? I only know coffeeshop stalls pay their rental fees to coffeeshop owner, but i don't know about the hawker centre etc. Maybe someone should enlighten.
3. Money Money Money
If i have any complains toward the amount of money i'm paying to the government, it will probably be the ERP that i'm paying everyday (at approx. $6.50 per day). But on the 2nd thought, if i have been more hardworking to take a bus or cab at an earlier time, then this will not be an issue ba. Lower GST is not my main concern, coz i'm damn glad that we don't have inheritance tax like Japan does (up to 50% sounds very scary to me). In fact, i pray for GST to stay-put at 7%, but i believe it will eventually jerk up to 10%. So if this is a plan to earn $$ from foreigners etc, then please make sure my GST rebate is sufficient.
4. Make your choice
There was a question post by the opposition to the public. "A fresh coat of paint in your neighbourhood, or your voice in the parliment." Alot of questions from the Singaporean reflects how kiasu we are. Singaporean wants both. We asked "if we vote for the opposition, will the 5-year plan still continue?". Don't be greedy, just pick one.
5. Foreign Talent
I do not know and did not read much about this policy. But the major rise in population did affect me. The small & ignorant me felt that it was the lot of foreign talent that jam the road during peak hours, causing ERP to launch, to rise and COE to rise higher. If the population is lesser, the jam in peak is lesser, will the ERP be lesser too? I understand inviting the talented one to start their business here, creating job opportunities for our fellow-man. I understand inviting the poorer one to come help take care of the "dirty-jobs" that the spoiled-brat us refused to pick up. But i don't understand why the rest of them are here. If they love singapore, i welcome them. If they critised us to the lowest, then why should i say hello? By the way, i see ex-FT candidates in this elections.... in varies party.
6. Minister's Salary
I'm still very shocked about it, especially after knowing how much Obama is getting. Speechless. No Comment.
Which party to vote for is up to each choice. While i believe we need strong opposition in the parliament, accept that economy will change drastically(-ve) if it is a full switch.
Let's cool our head tomorrow and vote on Saturday. Remember to bring your voting ticket and your NRIC. =D

Rally Rally
I got really excited about going to the rally and i have been trying to pick a right one to go. Apart from the MP-GRC NSP that sounds really hot on fire, the
other one is the A-GRC WP. The rallies that i really wanna go is B-TP GRC SPP & B-TP GRC PAP. Let's talk more about that later.
The first rally that i have been to in my whole life in the A-GRC WP Rally. In fact, being a voter in B-TP GRC, i sound like a KPO to go poking into other GRC rally. But it is once-in-5-years. If 5 years later, i have kids, i cannot be dragging my toddler to the rally with me right? so i knew i had to go, at least once.
I'm glad that miya was also interested in gg rally. Especially that i don't really have much friends who are concern about politics, and i even get sneered at when talking abt it with another friend. While i thought Singaporeans aren't politically apathetic (after the rally), i had to say, there are some are still apathetic.
The A-GRC WP rally was really hot!! Both atmosphere and the weather is burning like crazy. I had even estimate that at least 2 thousand ppl were at the stadium and i could never move much in and never hear much apart from some critical phase, and talking of ppl around me.
Entrance was totally packed
I started to realise that it was a terrible idea to go in a rally after it have started, coz the among of people is enough to suffocate one to death.
what i can see, from where i'm standing
after some time, we both notice we couldn't hear & see a thing, so we decided to move out and see if there are better locations. but as expected, it is totally packed, so bad such that the over-head bridge is full of people. i even heard a little boy tell his mum "mummy, i think the bridge is going to break soon"
we decided to pick abit of courage to climb the breaking bridge to see the view from there
It was totally hot and we had to gave up and decided to go for the online version.

Ok, i missed the SPP Rally. Hate my stomach who gave me the issues when i was really excited about going to a rally for my GRC. T_T
And oh, the PAP came house-visiting. At the same time as the Rally. *interesting*

Macbeth!!
It all started when i was on the way home from work and saw a taxi then advertised on the Shakespeare in the Park - Macbeth Play. I quickly tweet and facebook it, asking if anyone is interested. and i got 2 replies from euxil, one reply at each place.
Later on, we asked the little boy if he is interested, and to our surprise, he readily agreed to go. =D
Thus, i booked the tix and we met up an hour before gates open at Liang Court to buy our picnic goodies. we spent close to $100 at Mediya & Tampopo!! *amazed* with lots of sashimi (yes, even though i was LS-ing!!)
We took a cab up from Liang Court up the Fort Canning Park and the queue...!!!
Ok~ queue is long. but i dun feel anything after gg to rally on friday night.

Din took much pictures before the show starts, we were busy eating. *chomp chomp*
the interesting part of the show is definitely the gun-shot (x4) and super-drama-queen Lady Macbeth. By the way, Macbeth is Adrian Pang. I din know till i saw from the pamphlet.
It was real fun to have a picnic. I'm looking forward to yan helping me to get picnic basket from Brisbane and I can go picnic with any of my happy cliques!

Steak @ Harry's
It was a half working day on 19 Apr as i have scheduled to go for manicure. I had to go after lunch, so i decided might as well joined my colleagues for lunch.
It was a super-duper hot afternoon, but the clique decided to walk to victoria. In fact, demolishing in progress. so we walk to raffles place area.
Yes, raffles place, not raffles city.
Then we came across an interesting bridge.
crossing the bridge, we realise the heat was too horrible for us to accept, so we wanted a cool place for lunch. Most places are crowded so we ended up walking towards boat quay and ended up at Harry's Bar.
The atmosphere was perfect and the food was good.....
The steak super "got standard". Just the right done-ness. I eat medium-rare (fyi)
The accompanied gravy & mash are also perfect. I never knew Harry's steak is so good.
Shall return for steak again one of these days =D
